Hello! It has been a while since I last posted. So, I wanted to start by sharing a few songs I have really enjoyed lately.
Just a little bit about Kasey Musgraves. She signed to Mercury Nashville in 2012 and has released two critically acclaimed albums on the label, Same Trailer Different Park (2013) and Pageant Material (2015). This song comes from the album Pageant Material.

Bro Country
There is lots of talk lately about the recent trend in country music called bro country. Bro-country is a style of mainstream country music originating in the second decade of the 21st century. It is a general term for styles of country music taking influence from 21st-century hip hop, rock, pop and electronic music. (Source)
Now there are many ways in which people are pointing fingers as to who "Bro Country" originated with. My opinion is it all started with these guys....
Florida Georgia Line (FGL). They first hit the country world in 2012 with the song above, "Cruise". FGL was nominated and won several awards in 2013. From what I have noticed since then, more and more groups are popping up with a similar sound. Surprisingly, I am not alone to name these guys as the originators of the "Bro Country" sub genre. Jody Rosen of New York Magazine first used the term "Bro Country" to describe FGL and their break through song "Cruise". Since then artists such as Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean have also delved into this sub genre. (Source)
So what is your opinion of "Bro Country"? For me, I feel that they are a sub genre of country music that is just flowing with the way mainstream media and other nuances of this generation are headed. I certainly enjoy a bro country song here and there. But I definitely prefer the classics. I guess you could say I am getting old...
Leave a comment. I want to know what you think!

Lady Antebellum - Compass
Lady Antebellum returns to the top of Billboard's Country Airplay chart, as "Compass" steers 2-1. The song is the trio' first No. 1 in nearly a year, and its eighth overall, on the Nielsen BDS-based radio airplay chart. This song marks the trio's return to the top and brings pop/R&B writing team Stargate its first country leader. (Source)

Wagon Wheel and its History
"Wagon Wheel" is a song originally sketched by Bob Dylan and later completed by Old Crow Medicine Show. Old Crow Medicine Show's version was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in November 2011. The song has also been covered by blues artist Matt Andersen, in 2005, and Darius Rucker, in 2013.
Here are the links to each of these artists performing. I am fond of the Darius Rucker cover. It is true country to me, but the Matt Andersen cover is nice for the ear too.
Which is your favorite?

Taylor Swift-22
While this song reminds me of everything good, great, and fun about college, I just don't think I can classify Taylor as a country artist after hearing it. What do you think?

Randy Houser - How Country Feels
I have been loving this song lately. Have you heard it? He seems to have had a bit of success since he first signed to Universal South Records in 2008. This is the first song I can remember. Probably because this is his first number 1 hit on the Country Airplay Chart. This song hit number on on February 2, 2013. (Link)

Dustin Lynch - Cowboys And Angels
Have you heard the song "Cowboys and Angels" by Dustin Lynch? I think it is a great love story!
Lynch moved to Nashville in 2003 to pursue a career in country music. He signed to Broken Bow Records in late 2011, and he released his debut single "Cowboys and Angels" in January 2012. Lynch wrote the song with Josh Leo and Tim Nichols. That same month, Country Weekly began streaming his songs on their website. He used to work at a chemistry lab and also worked as a song writer writing more than 200 songs in under 2 years. The album's second single "She Cranks My Tractor" released to country radio in November 19, 2012.
I see some serious potential coming from Dustin Lynch. What do you think?
