I ran across this video on YouTube and it caught my attention so I did a little research. I found out this girls name is Erika Jo. She is an American country music recording artist who was declared winner of the 2005 season of the Nashville Star television program. She is both the youngest person to win the competition and the first female winner. She signed to Universal South Records in 2005. She released her self-titled debut album, which produced a chart single in "I Break Things", a #53 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Her only professional album, Erika Jo, was released by Universal South on June 14, 2005 and debuted at #5 on Billboard's country album chart, but the album, like its first single, enjoyed very limited success after its initial launch, selling just 118,829 copies through its first 11 months in release. Charley, I'm only obsessed with Country so I love reading your blog. Guess I could start commenting :) haha. This song is...interesting. I've never heard of this girl before so I guess I'd say yes she is a one hit wonder. Nashville Star didn't seem to be that well-known of a show though. Didn't Miranda Lambert later gain fame through the same show? Sucks that this girl obviously has a good voice and things didn't work out for her. Hopefully she doesn't give up on her dream!
ReplyDeleteYou should follow my blog then! :) yes Miranda Lambert was a finalist on the 2003 and three season. She is still performing a little from what I learned about her, but no recording contract.
